Our Mission

Our objective here is to share the love of God with those that He brings across our path and to share ideals and experiences we have had regarding our business and sustainable living.

What is sustainable living? The word “sustain” in this context is a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged and relates to a lifestyle of involving the use of sustainable methods. Many talk about sustainable living but fail to include the one that sustains all life and gave his own life on the cross so that we could truly have life. His name is Jesus, the only begotten son of God our father.

Sustainable living also involves using less energy, eating wholesome local foods, involving your family in the life of the community and making wiser choices that will improve the quality of life for your family, your community and the environment around you. This is big part of what a life with Jesus is all about and so many don’t realize. Its our desire to bring them this good news and show them the freedom we have found in this.

With today’s advanced technology, living off the grid doesn’t mean going without electricity, but producing your own with photovoltaics (PV solar panels), hydropower or wind turbines. In addition, home businesses are no longer limited to farm produce stands and craft sales, but can include marketing a home business or telecommuting via the Internet.

As part of our efforts toward our own sustainable life and helping others achieve theirs, we have a home based business, Mississippi Gourmet Mushrooms. We grow primarily 3 types of oyster mushrooms for sale at local farmers markets. We desire to share our experience and knowledge in this area with others so that they too can grow and prosper.

We believe that farmers markets are a real part of sustainable living, offering the community local produce that is fresher and often more organically grown than your local super stores. Buying from local farmers markets conserve our planets natural resources by not having to ship our food from distant parts of the world. Not to mention the effects that this has on our local economy.

At our home and business we have began making inroads to conserve energy in many different ways. We use a clothes line for drying cloths, a solar water heater for our home and businesses hot water needs, have our own garden, raise our own quail, adjusted our air systems to higher temperatures in the summer and lower in the winter, and have changed our buying habits to use more greener products. These are just a few of the things we have done and it is our desire to share with others the impact they have had on our lives and help them see the differences that it can make in there own, with Christ at the center.

You have been a very busy man. I’m impressed. Although I may be as equally impressed with your web site. No doubt you have built it yourself.
Congratulations on all this. This really is great stuff. Proud of you.
